The fallow deer is a native species to the Mediterranean countries. The species was introduced to Romania in the 20th century in hunting parks and then in various hunting grounds. The most representative populations are found in the west and south of the country. The optimal biotope is represented by small deciduous forests with bushes and gaps inside, between which agricultural lands are interspersed. The trophy of the fallow buck is the well-developed set of antlers. Most of the trophies are between 2.5 and 3,5 kg net weight. After the hunt the trophy is cleaned, blanked and put in dry & cool place. After 24 hours will be measured and the weight of the skull with the antlers will be take in consideration for payment. The trophy is measured according to the CIC methodology. The national record scores 207.59 CIC and was harvested in 2023 in Arad county.
