The small game hunting in Romania is strictly regulated and organized only within officially approved hunting seasons. The hunt of some species is based on annual quotas issued by the Ministry of Environment, Waters and Forests (MEWF). For other species such as quails, ducks and so on… are stablished by law the daily bag limits.

Quail (Coturnix coturnix): 15 August-31 October
Collared dove (Streptopelia decaocto): 15 August – 28 February
Mallard duck (Anas platyrhynchos): 1 September – 15 February
Eurasian teal (Anas Crecca): 1 September -10 February
Greater white-fronted goose (Anser albifrons): 15 October -15 February
Greylag goose (Anser anser): 15 August – 15 February
Wood pigeon (Columba palumbus): 1 Septembrie – 10 February
Hazel grouse (Tetrastes bonasia): 15 September -30 November
Brown hare (Lepus europeus): 01 October – 31 December
Fox (Vulpes vulpes): All year around
Golden jackal (Canis aureus)- All year around
Badger (Meles meles): 1 August -31 March
Hunting seasons and quotas are subject to annual approval and may be adjusted according to Romanian and European Union legislation.
